You don't want a hard material behind the foam, so make an edge frame from 1X4's, and glue the foam to this frame, which can then be hung, have legs, etc. Make the outside of the frame a few inches smaller than the outside limits of the foam, so the boards don't show so badly.Painted, the boards and even legs should blend in well with the rest of the room.
