Re: Variation on Jon Risch DIY bass trap -- opinions?

Might not need bass traps, maybe acoustic panels would do the trick.

Do this:

with bass heavy music playing, walk around the room, particularly in the corners, moving slowly, an inch at a time, in the corners.

Listen to the perceived sound level of the bass frequencies. If it doesn't vary (that much) then bass traps may not be a big help. If it does, then you can build the round ones, make several of them, and place them at 1/3, 2/3 intervals along the offending wall, or maybe 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 if you build three.

Consider going floor to ceiling. Bass can get reflected from top corners as well as bottom.

I'd think you have little bass reflection problems based upon your description. I would put acoustic panels along the remaining wall, maybe quite a few, to "deaden" that side as much as the other.
