If you are not going to use the rock wool panels, and these are not really necessary of you use thicker than 6-8" of fiberglass, then you can staple to the rear of the frame wood. It was stated that way to to keep the rear of the frame clear for gluing purposes, and that is all. If you glued to the fiberglass kraft paper that was stapled to the rear of the frame, then the only thing holding the rockwool panel on was the stapled kraft paper, and this would not do for long term or transport or moving vans, etc.Jon Risch
