acoustic panels

I plan on building Jon Risch's acoustic fiberglass panels. At the same time I am hanging curtains all along the wall behind my speakers from floor to ceiling as part of my home theater. My question is should I mount the acoustic panels behind the curtain or in front of the curtain? The curtain material is a polyesther/cotton/rayon blend.

I would prefer to put them behind the curtain for aesthetic reasons...but they would need to be flush against the wall....I know they won't absorb as much bass being flush against the wall...but will the sound even pass through the curtain and reach the acoustic panel? For that matter...maybe the curtain will be enough.

The general problem with my space is high frequencies anyway. It has the dreaded metallic slap echo.

Any advise would be mucho appreciated.

Thanks
