Roxul AFB mineral wool or Roxul Rockboard 60 (2" x 24" x 48") panels are cheap(er) alternatives to Owens Corning 703 and 705 panels. Roxul AFB panels are floppy and need the support of a frame or wall. Roxul Rockboard 60 panels are not only more absorptive than AFB but are also more rigid and can be used "as-is", sans framework if necessary. Check out the "DIY Acoustic Materials" section of the ATS Acoustics site. I am not affiliated with ATS, but I can heartly recommend their products...
