Most acoustic ceiling tiles are not that great at absorbing sound in the first place, they are merely better than a solid ceiling, period.
They are so thin, and the HF absorption is usually poor too, so they end up absorbing more in the midrange than anywhere else, and even there, not that well.Yes, there are some special types of ceiling tiles that absorb more than the typical ones, but these are thick, heavy and expensive. You would be better off building your own DIY wall panels.
