In my case ignoring the open area in the L and concentrating on the closed corner helped, but my approach was butt ugly and the other members of the household threw away the acoustic tiles etc. So the hunt for a better (sounding and looking) solution is underway.Make sure you let us know what you ultimately do, and how it works. Hopefully you get some more really good replies beforehand!
