If you add sheer fiberglass to a less than optimal trap, it will improve it's performance some. But the bottom line is, you end up spending a lot on fiberglass, and the pipe insulation is not that cheap either. If you realy want to go with the Knaupf pipe insulation, but beef-up the performance, try adding uncompressed fiberglass to about 1/2 to 2/3 of the inner volume. If you place a middle divider inside, one with a large opening to allow the two inner halves to couple, this will provide a 'stop' for the loose fiberglass, so some is laying on the bottom of the unit, and some is 'stuck' about 1/2 way up, leaving some air cavities inside.
