RE: Black Discus arrived - impressions.

Is the display on these units defeatable? That is, can they be turned off and if so, what were your results using the Black Discuses then?

Since obtaining my free sample , I've gone back and ordered twice from Mad Scientist Audio and have heard results basically identical to yours. Especially an increase in the height of the soundstage.

I haven't had much luck with crystals. The results have almost always been subtractive. Mainly, a loss of highs without the increase in detail you describe. The two types that seemed to have the least negative side effects while showing some improvements in clarity were clear quartz and tourmaline. Onyx, ametrine, aventurine, and topaz were all non-starters.
