Agree - Spoons and ball bearings work well.

I took some larger spoons (tablespoon size) and cut off the handles. I cut some 3"x3" oak squares from 3/4" thick board and used a router bit to cut a small concave depression into the oak to accomodate the spoons. I glued the spoons into the oak squares using some construction adhesive. I used 3 of them under my CDP, amp and preamp with the spoon facing down with a 5/8-3/4" steel ball bearing under each spoon. The bottom surface is just a small square of heavy steel or sheet metal (anything hard and smooth). It takes some time to get them balanced well but when you get them right, they work very well (a nice tweak).
