I have the same unit. Not only is it noisy but it transfers a lot of vibration. Have you seen the small air pillows that are used for lightweight packing (not bubble wrap)? Mine is floated on three of these which helps. You need to replace them every couple of months when they deflate. Foam or other sound absorbers around it helps too. If you turn if off the drive will spin down after about 15 minutes of non-use (mine does anyway). If you have set it to record something it will come back up and do that even though you turned it off.
