Thanks again, Barry.I didn't say that being dipole is a problem, quite the contrary. But it does induce comb filtering in the lower frequencies due to the backwave reflecting from the front wall. On the other hand, the high frequencies of the backwave, when diffused and not directly reflected, create amazing ambience.
Regarding early and late reflections, my preference is simply to diffuse the backwave rather than absorbing or reflecting it. I've tried all three and found diffusion to be the best in my ears. I've read that article too and don't entirely agree with it - for one, it was not written about dipole speakers.
