Re: Marantz cd-94

Hi,

Looking at your Mod's, you are still missing a major component. Electrolytic capacitors age and not well. I would literally replace the whole selection of Electrolytics. Actually I did replace them on my LHH 1000, in stages.

I have finally finished and must admit that I did not apply 1 to 1 replacements but in many cases what one would consider "upgrades".

This means instead of Elna Cerafines I now have Elna Silmic in the Analogue section, heavy decoupling combining SMD ceramics, Sanyo Os-Con and low Inductance Panasonic HFQ (I had them at hand) around the DAC chip, Panasonic HFC/HFQ in all the digital PSU Circuits and Sanyo Os-Con's plus a few PK series Black Gate (around the PLL) Capacitors.

Whatever the reasons, the DAC has become much more alive and realistic sounding. And most of these replacements where made after fitting the BB Op-Amps. I only initially replaced all the direct reservoir capacitors as will have been worn most and even that gave a notable improvement in HF transparency.

Later T
