Re: black gates in parallel

Oh? You think I'm advertising? Maybe ego, but I've stopped building these speakers which is why I'm letting the design details go to AudioXpress ~ I just hate waste.

No, I don't think you're advertising. It was a joke.

I'd mentioned that these open baffle speakers I was working on were not unlike advertising sandwich boards. You know, those things you sometimes see out in front of a shop made from two pieces of plywood with hinges across the top and a chain that keeps them from splaying out too far. They look like an upside down V.

The joke was that your speakers had limited versatility compared to mine because yours couldn't double as advertising sandwich boards so I slapped the "YOUR AD HERE!" thing on an image of my open baffle speakers (which wasn't a photo of the real things, just something I cobbled together in Corel Xara).

I don't know what MLS is. The advantage of the LMS is the active on board filters that can be adjusted in software. As the board is custom made, it can sense its own output. This allows one to do accurate impedance testing as well as component testing. You can test the inductance of a coil or capacitance of a capacitor at the frequency you intend to use it (eg the crossover point).

It also does a fairly good job of calculating all the speaker parameters and can even send a startup signal to a turntable for polar plots.

The really good feature is the gated mode. I've tested indoors and out in the open, and using the gated mode inside one gets a plot as faithful as outdoors, at least down to 500 (very accurately) and 200 (within a decibel or two).

Yes. The same thing can be done with LAUD. The Fiji card allowed direct access via software to the chipset used by the Fiji card.

As for MLS, it stands for Maximum Length Sequence. There's a bit of an overview of it on Liberty's web site (MLS wasn't developed by Liberty Instruments by the way).

P.S. I know you're having fun with the HTML tags, but in future, could you leave the background white? That textured background makes reading a bit more difficult. Thanks.
