Is it hot where you are? Any chance your power company dropped the voltage while you were out? Any chance your hearing threshold decreased while you were out in traffic, etc.? Since the device you're speaking of is not apparently electrical since there's no circuit, only mechanical, and being mechanical it would need to surround any electrical device to have an effect, there's no reason for it to have any electrical effect in this known version of the universe. However, against my better judgment and since I have lots of those snap-on ferrite cores for ham stuff, I will try it. Regards.
