Actually, I'm having second thoughts.
I think series connection of the drivers could play hell with the Qes of each driver - could stuff up their parameters badly.Also a paradox; all my research in speaker design texts, electronics texts and engineering handbooks suggests my previous post had the right information about SPL's. Problem is, when you double the impedance of the system by series connection of drivers, the current-flow halves at the same amplifier output voltage (Ohm's law). Therefore the power disapation through the pair of series connected drivers is 3dB less than through a single driver. How can the total SPL produced be unchanged?
Now its ME asking can anyone resolve this apparent paradox please? Also comments on the Qes issue?
