I agree with your findings as well.I had tried the 8620 SOIC in BD adapter biased into Class A, and it just seemed to be too forward & aggressive with a SS Amp & CD combination (in my DAC actually).
The AD826 wasn't bad at all, but being Bipolar input it had 0.5VDC
offset at the output of my DAC. My Linn preamp had a Coupling Cap at its input, so no problem.I still like the OP627/AD825 combo in my DAC. Balancing Smoothness/Soundstaging with Midrange clarity/apparent speed.
