DrD, regardless what you choose, this can make an astounding difference:
1. Roof antenna (or attic antenna) with motor
2. high quality 75 Ohm coax cable
3. Tuner plugged in into power filter/conditioner. Especially newer models have lousy power supplies.
4. High quality interconnects
5. Tuneup of the tuner, and sensible tweaks (e.g. disconnecting 300ohm balun)
If the airwaves are not too crowded around your favorite two stations, get a tube tuner for best results.
