I'll second this up to a point. I owned a Sherwood Tube Tuner back around 1961...used with an Eico ST-70 and pair of AR-2as. It was extremely sensitive and had a good midrange. It was 45 years ago, but I seem to recall a slightly dull treble and a somewhat "woolly" bass. But it might also have been the amp/speaker combination. Certainly sounded nowhere near as good as my Fisher on modern equipment.
