MY main one isn't really a tuner! it's a formerly simulcast type rcvr (valve of course) by kenwood its a W8, uses 6BM8's in the OP stage which is turned off. We added a Studio 12 MPX kit and a 3 led indicator R/g/Red, and redid everything, including the PSU. Snubbed SS diodes repacing the old metal ones, good modern larger caps bypassed with some film caps. It's therefore got a BIG psu, for a tubed tuner that is.then there's the Akai, AT6?, digital with a b/w switch for AM.
then there's an old analogue Rotel RT324.
then a Yamaha R3 rcvr in the bedroom system.
I have been listening to FM for along time and given that RF performance isn't critical here in Canberra the Kenwood eats all other tuners for brekkie. very nice and very tubey sounding, yes. The wide bandwidth AM is very good too.
