I live near a major city and there is nothing to listen to on FM. Besides the commercials and self serving advertisements there are the DJs who love to hear themselves talk. And they love to get people on the phone to talk to before they play another advertisement. When music is finally played it's from a short list of songs that the big boys think we need to hear. Then there is public radio. I used send them money every year until they told me that I need to hear talk of the nation, all things considered, yada yada talk talk talk, all day long. Yes, we will start the music at 7pm. No, thank you. I directed my public radio money over to XM satelite and now I have music on the radio whenever I turn it on. What a concept.
I keep reading about high quality sound and excellent progrtamming on FM but as much as I want it to be true it just isn't. I don't understand how people can wade throught the hours and hours of information overload just to hear a few minutes of music on FM. Music that is broadcasted to sound good on a boombox or a Chevy. I used to love to listen to FM radio but until the majors get a clue I'll be spinning my own or supporting XM.
Maybe the grass is greener outside of my geographic area but for how long?
