I don't disagree with you. But if you scan the entire FM band you'll probably find 1 or 2 true high fidelity (audiophile quality?) stations out of, say 100 stations.I noted that in my car, if I set my tuner to "scan", it picks up a station at almost every increment now.
My home system is a Magnum Dynalab FT11 and I enjoy my FM very much.
Especially KPLU in Tacoma Washington. The station comes into my area kind of weak, but I enjoy the music very much.Back to the original question, is the magic removed? Not really. I don't usually compare sound quality of FM with my own source material. If I don't like the station, I can always tune to another.
