One more mod with a forthcoming review of the I.F. strip coupling caps. I usually change ceramic with silver mica and most are in the pico farid range. As for the present mod, I can not say if sonics were improved as I did not perform an A/B test. As a precaution I replaced the electrolytic three section can type capacitor with a new unit. The original had three sections rated at 40uf @ 350 volts each (overkill). I had a new capacitor with 40uf @ 400vdc, 20uf @ 350vdc & 10uf @ 300vdc. One does not need 40uf when a RC filter is used & current draw about 10-15ma on the 'sections'. I also bypassed the two sections after the first voltage dropping resistor with a polyproplene 2uf @ 400vdc capacitor on each section. This is usually reserved for high-end DIY amplifiers.
Anyways, just a good measure installing a new electrolytic capacitor.
