Errrr- not RCA 6SH6, it is RCA 6HS6 with the dull black plate and ring getter with dual support rods.Every tube is critical to the performance. Do not settle on a 12AU7 & call it good, they can not match the Sylvania 6SN7GT (no contest). I tried over 15 different 12AU7s.
Fortunately, the tubes are inexpensive. Additionally, parts do break-in. As a simple test with three of us listening including my 12 year old son trained from the age of four, we listened to our reference FM station for a few minutes. Then, we came back after the tuner played for 24 hours- improved a good amount. The sonics smoothed out and some of the 'edge' previously present was gone. Parts do break-in. It is easy for us to hear the difference from a record or CD on the FM radio station. Yes, the FM station plays both.
