I know this is an older thread, but it is interesting...and I do own one of these tuners, as well as a 2536 receiver. The question I have is this: in replacing the two 6AU6 tubes as stated with a 6HS6 tube, doesn't the higher filament current draw of the 6HS6 tubes cause some issues because you are not replacing all of the 6AU6 tubes which have a lower filament draw? Also, why replace only those to tubes? Wouldn't it be best to change out all 5 of the 6AU6 tubes with 6HS6 tubes for increased sensitivity? I've read somewhere that 6AH6 tubes are pretty close to the 6HS6 tubes in all values but price. Have you tried these at all in doing these modifications, and if so were the results similar, or worse than using the 6HS6 tubes?
Just trying to get a feel of what will happen when I try this modification on my own equipment. I don't want to cause any permanent damage to it....
