Which tuner to get and getting the most from it. Thank God, for the radio!

RE: solid vintage fm tuner that's easy to recap / restore ?

Hi SQ,
There are several which are easy to recap/restore, that will result in excellent sonics, assuming that is you priority. In no particular order:

Mitsubishi DA F20 5 Gangs, readily available
Sony ST-A6B 7 gangs, harder to find and a little more money
Harmon Kardon Citation 18 5 gangs, potted transformer, plug in boards
Philips AH-673 5 gangs, plug in boards, nice AM section

All the above have either removable bottom plates or plug in boards. Schematics available at the Tuner Information Center, www.fmtunerinfo.com and some even have recap recipes to follow, posted on the TIC.

Regards
JohnC
