After owning a fair lot of gear- Beats any high end solid states receivers?

Which tuner to get and getting the most from it. Thank God, for the radio!

As for a receiver (not tuner), my modified EICO 2510 with single-ended 6BQ5 is very good sounding. The EICO 2510 amp section is simular to the sought after EICO AF-4, but has a far superior PS transformer with plenty of reserve. EICO 2510 only come up for sale about once per year as I suspect few were ever sold. Do note low power output of 4-watts demands efficient speakers. All PP 6BQ5 amps I owned do not compare IMO.

I understand a Sherwood 8000 series is a super tube receiver, but I do not own one. The Sherwood makes much more power over a SE 6BQ5.
