4K upper Hi frequency roll-off on the Sony? Absurd!
Over the last 30+ years I have owned the Eico, . . . and Dynaco, . . . and Adcom, . . . and Marantz (not the 10b). . . and other FM analogue tuners.
But, ultimately I gave up. In the real world analogue FM simply stinks. The grating multipath distortion and horrific hiss (Stereo) alone made listening intolerable on most stations (my favorite stations).
With a tiny indoor antenna the little Sony XDR-F1HD brings in slews of very quiet, distortion free, full fidelity HD FM stations. In practical listening terms it's the best tuner I've ever owned. Hi-Fi Radio is back!
In 5 or 10 years FM analogue tuners will only have utility as anchors.
