Others here are know more than I, but I believe the amount of flashing has nothing at all to do with a tubes relative strength or weakness. The flashing is there to absorb gas to keep a good vacuum. A tube can be basically dead and still have lots of flashing because no gas was present in the tube. Conversely, a tube can test as strong as new, but the flashing can get used up due to gas which may shorten its life.Please correct me if I'm wrong.
