And BTW, at least on the old board, there was no "hi gain" board and "low gain" board. There was just one board. The resistor values and the tubes chosen, determined the gain of the board. The current boards only provide the low gain option but have active constant current sources, which certainly will change the.character of the sound. On the old board, IMHO, the difference between the high gain and low gain layout was splitting hairs, but the gain was excessive.
