Fun to come across this long past, but still relevant shoot-out. In a Lampi dac with tube rectification and using a pair of GEC KT66's, I found the Osram U50 superior in every way but not particularly warm. The Brimar is definitely euphonic, but also sleep inducing, i.e., sedate. The Osram military U50 I tried was tonally warm but not particularly transparent and had a glare when the music pushed, and so had to be returned.
