RE: The kicker is that the tubes lack seams on the tops...

Dates weren't always exact from what's on tube and what's on box. That's a mil contract box. It has the Ray EIA code of 280..which is correct. Tube fit in box is total irrelevant.
Of course..the print may not be authentic.
How does it sound? That's the most important question if you plan to keep and use.
