RE: Looking for something different. KT66 or 77?

I've tried the Genalex re-issue KT66, KT77 and KT88s as well as Black Treasure 6CA7s (and various GE, Sylvania, SED, Svetlana and Tung-Sol power tubes) in my Cronus Magnum.

The KT66s sound the best: even and extended frequency balance, holographic, excellent image separation, and the refinement and immediacy of SETs.

The KT77s sounded like a poor cross between an EL34 and a KT88, with a discontinuity between the frequency ranges.
