I've heard a lot of those and really like the WWII-era Ken-Rad VT-231s and ESPECIALLY the Tung-Sol roundplate VT-231. I used them in the Voltage-gain positions of Antique Sound Lab Hurricanes. The TSRP had everything good for me and then a touch of warmth (NOT darkness which means less treble energy). The KR was almost as good and was my fave until I ran into a TSRP. I bought this stuff maybe 10 years ago, and I have no idea what they sell for now. I do know that they, just like land, are not made any more, so I'd expect to see 'new' TSRPs for over $200...the KRs, less than that.
