It wasn't that bad.
The overall gain came in about where the 12ax7 + GNFB was. I didn't measure it; I went by the Vpot/loudness.
Rewiring the heaters, otherwise a plug in.
Diode biasing was a PITA!
I used six Cree TO252-2 which is a rather small package, on the tail.
