RE: Recent tube purchase – What to do?

TubeAcolyte I must have miscommunicated in my original post. The issues relate solely to the tube dealer, what they told me about these tubes before the sale, what they provided, their failure to support me after they took my money, and what you would do if this happened to you. The specific tube type purchased and the component they'll be used in is independent of these issues.

This tube dealer offers tubes in 3 grades with each a different cost. Each of their tubes undergoes IDENTICAL burn in and testing which results in a grade assignment. The results of these tests, the reseller stated, are indicated on each tube box. Thus there is a printed record that shows why a tube was assigned a specific grade.

Based on how the tube dealer responded to my pre-sales questions I determined how many tubes within each tube grade to purchase and ordered 2 sets of the identical tube. 1 set is this dealer's middle grade, tested/spec'ed for low noise and low microphonics. The 2nd set is their highest grade sold at a premium price. Sales person stated they offer this top grade as many customers want the best of the best.

I received the tubes. As promised test results were labeled on each tube box within the middle graded tube set. The problem was with the supplied set of their highest graded premium priced tubes. Within this set all tubes except for 1 contained test results. Unlike the others that 1 tube lacked indication that burn-in and that tests indicated in my original post were performed. And I stress all tubes in the middle graded tube set and the other tubes in the premium priced highest grade set indicated results for the data that’s missing on this one tube.

Problem being was this “problem” tube burned in which reduces chance of premature failure and how is it known with assurance how that tube performs? Is this tube indeed what I paid for, the best of the best and is it so in a way that aligns with the rest of the tubes in this premium quality and premium priced set?

Upon receipt of the tubes I endeavored to contact the seller as indicated in the original post. Since initial contact last Tues & subsequent attempts (it's now Sun) this dealer/tube reseller has ignored me. They responded to several emails that had pre-sales questions. After the sale they have been missing in action. And yes, although they shouldn’t have to use it, they do have my phone number.
