RE: Am I a Tungar or What am I?

Tungars are usually just a filament and a large plate about an inch away. When I first saw one, I thought I had an X-ray tube in hand - because the anode was so massive. The clue for it being a tungar was its screw-in base, like a large light bulk.

X-ray tubes are interesting collectibles too... You can get them when they reach end-of-life. I know a radiation oncologist that has been collecting these for several decades , but note from therapy machines, but old fixed imaging units. X-ray tubes require heavy duty construction - not only for the very high anode voltages, but the heat dissipation.
