Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |

hello KT90 experts,
i have a couple of vintage KT90 tubes made by Ei (ex-yugoslavia) which are obviously be type II versions as their anode plates have these type II-typical spot-welded, not folded edges like a blade.
i am astonished about 3 version of their sockets. some tubes have thin black sockets, thickness ~ 1/5 inch, the other sockets are ~ 3/8 inch thick. in addition some the thick ones are brown and some are black coloured what make 3 different socket versions.
can anybody explain the reason for these socket variations? are there any differences in quality or even in sound?
thank you!
Nunki
