..sorry to hear about your negative experience with the 'cortisone injection'..having given thousands of them, occasionally an injection will make things worse for a day or 2 rather then better..this happens with an intra-tendon sheath or one that actually is injected into the tendon itself..that is already very inflammed. it does not happen with an intra-articular...into the joint..injection.the injection did not make your neck hurt nor did it actually give you the headache. what happens is that you consciously or unconsciously splint the shoulder ..not wanting to move it due to increasing the pain...and caused your neck- shoulder supporting muscles to overwork..these usually are the sternocleidomastoid muscles.the flushing IS a side effect of the steroid..as for not being told the shot might make things worse you should have been told this might...although very rarely...happen..i can count on 1 hand the # of times it has happened to my patients in ,again. thousands of injections...it sounds like the PT has helped you enough so that you will not require a closed manipulation under anesthesia..which is required in many instances of 'adhesive capsulitis'that don't respond to conservative therapy...good luck..this isn't a fast fix..unfortunately
