Thanks for the response. It is definitely not the source, as it occurs when the source is not connected. (Probably moot, but FWIW I use it with a slimserver and a usb-powered dac.)
Do new tubes sometimes hum at first, and then stop over time?
Your mention of the headphones gave me an idea, and I tried switching from the 8 Ohm taps to the 6 Ohm. Way less hum. Does this fact help diagnose the problem? Is it okay for me to keep using 6 Ohm taps on 8 Ohm speakers? How about the 4 Ohm taps?
How is the bass on your Hsus? (Been shopping for new speakers for a friend)
