The answer is more complex and yes, power and sensitivity are very important, but that snap factor on drums, etc. is also determined by how well matched the damping factor of your amp is matched to your speakers. Some speakers are real sloppy in the bass and a high damped amp like a Bryston have an iron fist grip on the woofer and make it behave, but not all woofs need this control. If you can get a tube amp well matched, I find the quality of bass better with tubes. The Legacy Whisper for instance has wonderful bass control and authority with the Quicksilver Silver monos, M60, and Manley snappers, and EAR amps, all tubes. The Eico HF89 is also marvelous. Ironically, the damping factors of the Quickie and Eico are about 10.5 or 11. Thus the "match" is not just power, sensitivity, but also damping factors. Ask the manufacturer what damping factor optimizes the speakers. Happy searching, and consider the new Quick Silver 88's, CJ gear, and ARC. Rogue is also making good stuff as is VTL and Manley.
