I have a Melody integrated (I2A3) that I use to drive a pair of Zu Essence speakers. This is a great pairing - the I2A3 put out 18 watts into a 96db efficient speaker and I find myself listening to this set up quite often even though I have two other extremely nice sounding systems (see mgbpuff systems). The piano black finish (of both amp and speaker) is gorgeous and I find myself just staring at them in amazement and pride. The amp is very heavy - a real backbreaker - making me feel I got plenty for the money invested despite its having been built in China.
What speakers do you have? This would determine what tube compliment would be best to drive them - 2A3's, KT88's, EL34's, etc. as well as architecture such as SE, SE parallel, or PP. The Ayons (I've never heard one) look beautiful and well built but they tend to be more powerful and may be better for less efficient speakers. So depending on your speakers the Ayon may well be better but don't dismiss the Melodys simply because they are built in China.
