uncle ray,I hope inmates will forgiving me for mentioning this tube one more time!
The toughest 12AT7 I know- the quietest, and the best sounding in some applications such as vintage McIntosh and a microphone preamplifier is the Siemens and Halske triple mica E81CC, also sometimes labeled 12AT7WA and 6201. This is a premium 10,000 hour rated tube- the highest hour rating I know for a small tube. I use the one in some sonic- important spots and also in the power supply of an Audio Research SP10 preamp and D115 power amplifier.
By coincidence, the 12AT7 spots in the two Audio Research amplifiers were originally an RFT-and the one in the SP10 lasted 10 years- probably quite tough as well.
Cheers,Bambi B
