Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ

Not bloody likely !

gusser,

Don't panic! While California does have increasingly strict energy laws, these are generally quite sensible- and energy efficiency -as well as devlopment of alternate sources (coal makes up only about 1%)- is among the best in the world- except in the realm of transportation.

The number of tube amplifiers sold makes too tiny a percentage of increase to consider outlawing, whereas:

From the Los Angeles Times, November 19, 2009:

"Since the sale of flat-panel televisions began to rocket early in the decade, TV-related power usage has more than tripled to 10 billion kilowatt-hours per year, accounting for nearly 10% of residential electricity consumption, said Commissioner Arthur Rosenfeld, a nuclear physicist and UC Berkeley professor." I'll wager that the energy consumed by tube amplification is one of these .0000001% kind of numbers,..

Cheers,

Bambi B
