I'm not sure how different they are. The "Cheap" 6N8S are vintage Russian tubes, and some ARE in fact decent, especially for the money. I got some brown-base ones that are actually pretty good for $2 per tube, brand new - these were relabeled by people like Haltron UK as 6SN7WGT's and sold for a LOT more money ;)
