I get them through a amplifier builder who doesn't let go of them easily. The reason is that polystyrene is not in great supply, in fact has not been produced for several years, thus a dwindling supply. His supplier is able to only make about 80 more. I will ask him if I can pass on the information on his source out of respect. The place is AZ capacitors, and they make a lot of custom OEM caps. I don't know what parameters he uses for construction. They require minimum orders of several hundred dollars. I have 4 of the .27/600V left for a pair of the Quicksilvers I was going to use, but I have one set done and will try either Sonicap or Jantzen in the new set. I may even try to fit in a pair of the V-caps in the 600V space, but it will be so tight...may not be able to pull it off. The other location near the input drives is out of the question with V-caps. They only have 300V or 600V, and a 400V is needed, thus a 600V option...too big. I am going to sell my quad of styrenes for my cost which is about 50.00ea I would have to find the
receipt, if you are intersted? I could try to get the other 4 400V .27's from the amp builder, but he typically charges about the same price as these 600V I have. I do prefer the V-caps by a slight margin, but space is sometimes an issue. The styrenes do mount easier as the use solid core wires, the v-caps stranded and need stands. Care is needed to not overheat them also. Jallen
