RE: best budget 6sl7?

I agree 100%. The current production 6SL7's sound BAD to me. I have a Cary/AE phono preamp that uses 6SL7's. My favorite are the Tung-Sol 6SU7GTY in it, but you can get Sylvania VT229's for under $50/pair and these will blow the doors off of any current production 6SL7.
