I generally agree with this. I have a lot of different 6SN7 types, and I actually prefer the grey-class RCA VT231 over the Bad Boy, but I did not think the difference was stark. The Sylvania is more forward than the RCA, yes.
On the other hand, the metal-base 6SN7W was a VERY different sounding tube from either of these. I can see why it sells for a lot of money. The RCA red-base 5692 is totally overpriced these days, and the Bad Boy is getting there fast. The bargain "premium" 6SN7 type at the moment is the brown-base 6SN7WGT, IMO.
