The best two indeed are the JAN/Phillips 6SJ7WGT's mentioned by -3dB, and the RCA 5693 "Red Hots". I vastly prefer a glass-envelope tube, so I am a fan of the JAN/Phillips. These are the only two kinds of tubes that I have found that will become totally silent in the Darkvoice 337 amp I use them in. I have tried a bunch of other NOS types, including RCA and Tung-Sol mesh-plate types, and they were never completely quiet. I have not tried the JAN-Sylvania 6SJ7WGTs, but they are much harder to find than those Phillips that you can easily get from Angela for not a ton of dough.
