RE: Source for Brimar 12AX7?

I've also found the Mullard CV4004's to be very transparent which can be bright in some equipment.

When you say Brimar 12AX7 are you ruling out the Brimar CV4004's?
If you want CV4004's then try link below for kraudioproducts ebay auction. You can buy directly from his website too, but I find you can get much better deals through his ebay auctions.

My recommendation is to find some nice Groove Tube 12AX7M Mullard re-issues. I think they're just what you want at a reasonable price. Read the note on Jim McShane's site about the difficulty finding good 12AX7M's, and he now recommends the the Mullard 12AX7 long plate reissue, which he has in stock.
